Job Description
20 years! That’s how long theGenomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF)has been innovating drug discovery in San Diego.
The Cancer Therapeutics Department at the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation (GNF) has an opening for a postdoctoral associate. GNF is a part of the Novartis Institutes of Biomedical Research and engages in a wide range of research activities from basic science to optimization of small molecule and biologic drug candidates across a wide range of diseases. GNF offers a special environment in which to conduct research, in which fundamental science questions related to human disease are explored using cutting edge technologies and industry resources in a highly collaborative institute.
We seek a highly-motivated and creative postdoctoral associate to join theCancer Therapeutics Departmentat GNF. Recent genome-wide screens across 350+ cancer cell lines generated an exciting list of gene candidates that require further investigation. Validation of one or more of these genes will give us insight into unique and undiscovered cancer dependencies that will ultimately lead to new therapies and could have broad activity against multiple cancer sub-types. Furthermore, the primary intent of the project is to publish in a top-tier peer-reviewed journal based upon the mechanistic studies and novelty. This will be a collaborative effort with the cancer biology, genomics and pharmacology groups.

Minimum requirements
The selected candidate will have experience performing a range of mechanistic studies to elucidate novel biology and be required to use gene profiling, functional genomics, cell biology, and high-throughput biology to identify and validate novel tumor-specific targets. Strong expertise in cell biology, molecular biology, signal transduction, and dealing with large data sets is required. Experience with mouse tumor models is desired but not required.
